PART 2..... In this second part, I will be attaching the aforementioned milk transport tank.   The first order of business was to stretch the frame 40 scale inches (40mm.).  I had a difficult time locating optional wheelbases for the DM 800.  I spent quite a while scouring the Big Mack Trucks forums where I was finally able to locate a wheelbase that ,more than likely, would have been the wheelbase for a 1:1 scale with this type of tank.  The chassis is now at a 203" scale wheelbase.  As a side note, this wheelbase was also used with the Mack coal dump trucks (coal buckets as they are called in Eastern Kentucky) ..using the length of the dump bed as compared the the length of the milk tank is where I came up with the 203" wheelbase.  This wheelbase was referenced a few times in the Big Mack Trucks forums.                       The black pieces are some "C" channel from some unknown large scale car kit that I formed into plausible frame pieces for the Mack...white pieces are cross members made from Evergreen styrene "I" beams and strips.

Hello everyone, Thank you for allowing me to join you all. I've been retired 10 years and thought I would give model building a try after 50+ years. Jumped in both feet with Revells's Level 5 Peterbilt 359, have one built, working on #2, and just finished a lowering kit for #3. I've learned a lot from reading and watching videos from guys like you all, and it's helped tremendously. I don't have any desire to do weathering or in use trucks just what I like, read that more than once, build it the way you want it. I would like some advise about chroming things like toolboxes and fuel tanks etc, hate those darn seams, and any suggestions you all may have. So far they've turned out pretty decent in my opinion, but open to learning more. From what I've seen here are some very talented builders and I will never be to that calibur, just a hobby to keep my mind and hands busy. Sorry but I'm computer illiterate otherwise I'd definitely post some pictures for critique and advise. Love this site and seeing all of your amazing builds, keep on trucking. PEACE everyone.

Thanks, Brian. Yes, she still has miles to go, and no truck payment, right? Thanks, Gary. I appreciate it. It was a fun build.

...You captured the essence of a used truck with many unused miles......if I had a dime for every time I've seen this truck in my travels, I would sure have a heck of a lot of dimes.

Inspired by the steel haulers that run I-75 between Detroit and Toledo, here’s a parts box/glue bomb save that was an enjoyable build. Now, don’t get me wrong, many of the Detroit area conestoga pullers are beautiful large cars, worthy of best in show. The most beautiful rigs decked out in lights and chrome. But, there’s a few steel movers that are running out their twilight years wearing dirt, missing parts, and held together with duct tape and a prayer. This old Freightliner has seen better days, but she’s still earning her keep. The kit engine was replaced with a wired, plumbed and weathered Italeri Detroit Diesel Series 60. Aftermarket wheels and mismatched tires were added.
It’s missing some fairings, and one of the original fuel tanks. The factory exhaust was replaced by a single weed-burner pipe. It represents a truck that has had it’s series of changes and modifications over the years, many the result of fender benders and even a low bridge (That’s how the rooftop fairing and upper exhaust met their demise). The repairs are often back-yard style…just throw on cheap junkyard parts and make it work. The kind of truck that you need to know how to wrench-on if you want to own and drive it - for someone that’s mechanically savvy (and resourceful). I hope you enjoy it. But don’t call her ugly. At least, not to her face.

....Back to the Ford/Garwood   it's been a minute.   I wanted to show a cable coming off of the winch spool, so I came up with this.     For the cable I used a single strand wrapped around the spool and a braided double strand for the length of exposed cable.  The cable is 015. round lead wire used in making fly fishing lures.  I carved the hook out of a plastic fork.   The Garwood hydraulic winch is rated for 8,000 lbs. and the dia. of the cable is almost spot on for 1:25 scale.

I set a goal of having this a curbside build by the 4th of July and I made it!!!!!   This is my way of saying Happy 259th Birthday to the United States of America.  This build is far from being done, in fact the cab is not even attached as the interior has been barely started and there still is some body work to be done.
