DRIPTROIT 71 Posted January 16, 2020 This is a model of the first truck that I rode in as a kid with my dad. It was the spare truck and my dad had driven it to Kentucky where another 7400 had a broken steering box. Instead of swapping trucks, he just fixed the driver's truck and drove the spare back home. He let me ride back to the shop with him. That night for unknown reasons this truck burned to the ground. It was my first ride and the truck's last. This one was built from memory, starting with a cab from Spaulding Trading and Shipping. AMT K123 provided a chassis and AMT 352 Peterbilt provided the engine and transmission. I had reference photos of some of the other trucks that the company had, mostly 83 Freightliners, along with reference photos that I took of a real 7400. I spent a lot of time with my dad at work back then. The company had 3 7400s, but we never took any pictures back then. We probably thought that they were too ugly to waste the film on.😀
