I have been slowly working on an AMT White Western Star cab for a little bit. Going for that  mid-late 1970's O/O leased to a carrier effect. The cab, hood, and mercury "Hot Box" sleeper are painted in Rustoleum Gloss Meadow Green as seen in the picture. The frame will be painted in a bright yellow. Going with 10 hole wheels on the front, and spoke "wagon wheels" on the rears. As I have been going through the parts and separating them I have discovered I am missing the hood hinges, the brake cylinders for the rear wheels, and the two bottom rails that glue into the sleeper to raise it up off of the frame. Not sure where to find replacements. So if anyone has any ideas I'd sure appreciate it. Thank you.

Try conacing AMT / Round2. They could hve them as it is a fairly current kit.   Paul

    Paul,

Good morning and hope you are well. I have decided to paint the frame and associated parts semi gloss black. Aluminum tanks and stacks. Going to do it as a fleet unit with an owner operator feel to it. Need to acquire the necessary decals. I kind of like the ones from either the AMT Cali Hauler, or the new Autocar reissue. Going to source them probably on Ebay. Thanks again for all your help thus far.

You also may look at Modeltruckin.com  Jerry has some very nice generic decals also (if you do purchase from him mention Paul from Gold Coast referred you). Post some photos if you will, the International sounds like a very interesting project!   Paul

Paul thanks for the information. Since I am not doing stripes I may go semi gloss black. After frame is assembled and primed I will choose the color. Also I think I will dechrome the fuel tanks and paint them aluminum.

I agree on the chrome tanks,I've polished my real tanks and never even got close to the chrome look.

Afternoon all hope everyone's well. Started my AMT IH 4300 Transtar day cab build. The cab is painted Model Master Daytona Yellow lacquer. I was going to paint the frame Gloss Meadow Green. However I am having second thoughts and thinking maybe a Royal Blue instead. I am thinking that the frame on the standard 4300 (Non Eagle) were painted most likely Black and the Eagle's were various other colors? If anyone has any suggestions it would be most appreciated. Thank you.

On the Tri Color Transtar's the chassis was generally painted the same color as the lower stripe, but on all the standard trucks  Semi Gloss Black was the basic color but the buyer could option at a few dollars more any color the wanted. You pretty much have a wide range of choices.   Paul

  5. Been working on this on and off for a few years. Dragged it out popped the Detroit 8V71T out and re painted the chassis Rootbeer. Fuel tanks are modified Mack units and the wheels and tires are from the AMT Ah64B Autocar. Assembled the interior that was painted a few years ago with a AMT Corvair Rally panel for the co driver, added the guard over the roof AC I made from brass with only a dozen or so tries. Playing now with the none dumping dump body that carried spare parts, oil, tires and 200 gallons of drinking water, 300 gallons of extra fuel.        Paul

i stretched the frame about 1 1/2 inch using the same frame rails in the kit. So Diamond Reo is coming back? Have you seen the new Autocar? Thanks for stopping by

Yes saw the photos. If I wasn't in my mid 60's I'd think of selling my Marmon for a new DC64.

  7. That's going to be a sweet look T. It looks longer than mine, been so long I had to take a good look to see if I shortened the wheel base. Apparently not. I didn't know the kits had different chassis in different reissues.

I'm going to start a thread so it can be seen also.

The real trucks are being made as glider kit by a company called T Line supposedly by next year. Now if only the Marmon Company would return so I could retire my OTR and get a new one that would allow me into Cali.      Paul.

Thanks Paul hope to post pics soon.

On hold at the moment fighting emissions testing to get tabs back on my ride.

I feel for you on that. My bike (1950), car (1955) and truck (1988) are all to old the require emission testing. Used to dread it.   Paul
