  1. I have the factory suspension and axles on.  There's no rear cross member yet as I plan to fab one better than the kit.  The engine is just sitting in place right now.brgb6.thumb.jpg.1f53eeb9fe5a63bec95c5e4aedc5f635.jpg

Brake chamber have yet to be added as I plan to upgrade them and include spring brakes on both axles.

The initial run of my upgrade parts.   Each one needs a slight amount of adjustments before the final print is made.

  2. Next build is going to be a highly modified Alaskan Hauler.   I'm building this for the YouTube 2024 Big Rig Group Build.    I  plan on this being a rig that has been well maintained and upgraded thru the years, but now a show rig.

Kit engine is built up and primed so I can see where more work is needed.  Don't know what the deal is with this particular white AMT molded this in, but it's hard to see the seams.

Basic frame is together, this will soon be stretched.

  3. I didn't do any scanning.     How I came up with my parts depended on what I was doing.    With the kit parts, such as the frame extension I simply measured the kit part and duplicated those dimensions.    Other parts, such as the reefer and APU.....I found a bit of dimensional information on the internet and then just interpreted the rest based on those dimensions and photos.

Once you have an item modeled, it's pretty easy to re-scale it to another size.

  4. Thanks guys.   I still piddle with it now and then, add things make improvements.   When I first built it I wanted it to look like the builder just slipped a piece of pipe in where the stack was, but now I keep thinking I need to make it look like they supported it at the top of the cab.   Little things like that.

      Greetings from Topeka,

Not sure of the other Kansans here on the forums other than Paul, who is a fellow member of the Ad Astra modeling club here in Topeka and member of the forum.

From the looks of things, I will be getting more build time in the hobby room since Mother nature is going to be releasing a fury of Winter weather here in N.E Kansas which will put the kibosh on any outdoor activity that I had planned for the next few weeks.

I'm up in Marysville, not terribly far away from Topeka.

  6. This is currently my only truck build.   It's meant to be a Post Apocalypses RV that was patched together from various bits to roam the wasteland.   I started with an Autocar Dump Truck and Italeri 20' Container.  Reefer unit converted to HVAC system, Air Filtration, Power Fan, Custom front bumper and a frame mounted generator to name a few of the upgrades.    Stretched frame, new wheels and tires, pusher axle and many 3d printed parts leads us to where we are today.  Occasionally I add a few more bits to it as I find or design files.

Hope you enjoy, I know it's a bit different from what you're used to.

  7. Hello my name is Chris and I also hail from Kansas.  Got back into modeling a few years back, now starting to get back into truck modeling.   I have only built one so far but am prepping for another.

I will add photos in the near future.
