Oh that's just beautiful. You are so good at getting the road dirt look just right. Love the diesel fuel overflow in the dirt on the tanks and the fresh grease job on the fifth wheel.

Those drive tires look like recaps. Nice touch! I wonder if McLean was into recaps. I know a lot of those big carriers gave up on recaps and just went over to all new tires. Not sure about McLean, though -- I never drove for them.

    Congrats on a terrific model!

Thanks Johnny!! There's probably a good chance that they ran recaps on the drives on a few trucks way back then. I know a lot of companies ran recaps on their trailers into the 90s.

Wonderful all around, but the excellent weathering really sells it. Just the right amount, and so realistic. The drives are great too, and yeah they probably are actually retreads. It looks like Clint Freeman used the sidewalls from AMT, and added his own drive tread pattern. Art imitating life.

Thanks Victor! I've always thought the same thing about those tires.

Beautiful!  Great detailing on all the little stuff -- nice work.

Love those bullnose KWs -- something about the swan sitting next to the air cleaner sticking right out of the top of the hood makes me smile every time 😀

Recently joined the group as I'm going to get back into constructing some Freightliner tractors and CF trailers I've been sitting on for years, and saw your work on this "pusher".  As an ex-Con, remember back in the day when these were featured in an article in The Freighter about these working out of the Rio Linda Consolidation Center.  As a newbie, I have a few questions, if that's OK:

    • What red paint did you use?  I know the original colors were spec'd as Pantone 185 for the red, and Pantone 348 for the green for corporate identification, but have no idea how those translate to automotive/modeling paint colors.
    • I noticed you added a period-correct air start tank and two-hole Budd wheels; do you have a source to recommend?
    • I assume you did some modifications to change from the four-headlight to the correct two-headlight configuration; is that correct?

I could probably ask many more questions, but appreciate you looking at these three to start.

Sorry for the late response, I haven't been around for a while. Life has been busy.

I don't remember the paint color. I'm pretty sure that I used Duplicolor in a spray can though. The stripes are decals from the kit.

The air tank came from the AMT R-Model Mack. The 2 hole Budds came from Double Take Replicas, sadly they are no longer in business. Jamie at moluminum.com offers excellent 2 hole Budds though.

I did convert it from 4 headlights to 2 headlights.

If you have any more questions let me know.
