my version of my dads truck when he was an owner op in the 70's . this is my favorite model and has a special place in my heart as I learned to drive on it . built from the parts box 25 years ago just before I stopped building trucks . back then this was the build I had always wanted to do .

hello ! started building models in the early 70's, first cars, then trucks. my dad was on owner op and I got bit by the truck bug early on. built trucks til the 90's, then spent 10 years building world war two aircraft . life got in the way of building at the beginning of the year 2000 and I stopped modeling. I started back up about three years ago, tried the aircraft but it wasn't working so I started building trucks again. I have a lot of old stuff and lots of parts so I started to rebuild some and I like to build parts box specials . looking forward to meeting and sharing truck stuff with you guys and thanks for having me.

this is my latest creation finished about four months ago. it's funny how things take shape as I started out wanting to do a simple build. I wanted to do a day cab work truck just for fun. as I went online to look at battery box , fuel tank placement , I came across the customs. so much for the simple day cab work truck ! this is what turned out , my first custom ! the monogram snap aerodyne kit is the basis . the only thing left of that are the cab , hood , engine , and the front frame section from the cab forward. I started out with the hood cutting off the headlight mounts and filling them in . I used pete headlight brackets and 32 ford headlights. the rear frame is from a revell Germany kw 900 long nose kit . the eight bag rear suspension from that same kit was also used . I lowered it quite a bit so cutting the eight bags down was very tedious and took a lot of patience . the front axle was mounted on top of the springs . all the other parts came from the parts box except the front bumper and exhaust stacks which came from rhino on ebay . . I drilled out the lugs on the front wheels and made the spike lugnut covers using round toothpick ends painted silver . the paint is rustoleum almond gloss and colonial red from spray cans . it took about four months to complete and I had a blast doing it.

here's one of my older builds . it got a freshening up about a year ago.

started with an amt 359 kit modified to a needle nose. I always wanted to do one. I started by cutting up the hood and grille, then used fenders from a revell snap kit kenworth w900. I stretched the frame and dropped it in the weeds, also dropped the cab onto the frame and made the hood tilt. moebius tires and wheels are also used. the project stalled three months ago as I lost some mojo. the bug hit me again when I saw the 3d models posted by casey especially the needle nose he posted. I even found the color sage green and sprayed the hood this morning. here are some pics and will post more as progress develops.

this highly anticipated kit is just hitting the shelves now. on another site I found out there may be some missing parts. one person bought four kits , out of four kits two of them are missing the cabs and have two hoods each. so check them when you get them. will post more info if I find out anything. mine should be arriving in a day or two.

my kit was waiting for me when I arrived home from work this evening. after supper I opened it and found everything was in order, no parts missing. i'm happy now been thinking about it all day.
