Oh man, I can imagine that would be a pain. Great build. Wish we saw more of this era and type of Ford trucks. I’ve always liked the looks of the 80’s Ford medium (and heavy) duty trucks. From a design standpoint, they always seemed to compliment the light duty truck line (and looked good while sharing parts), and the “family resemblance” of the entire truck line said “Ford”. Tough, but also with style.

That’s one beautiful wrecker. Such a unique build, and a success from concept to results.

Excellent build. Neat subject matter, for sure. I love the interior detail and the aftermarket wheels and tires. I too, noticed the asymmetrical stack placement. Who knows why they did that, but it’s a unique and prototypical feature to include. Great job on capturing those details and things like the Ford Blue 8v71.

Lookin’ good!

Tough decision. If it were me, I think I’d go with option #1 left to right. If fact, though you can’t go wrong with any of them, I think I’d rank them in order from left to right.

Ha! Truck Yourself. I love this build. So much character, but so realistic. The frame crust and the mismatched hood. Perfect!

Beautiful build. Excellent weathering, very convincing!

Really nice work. Those are interesting drive tires. I’ve never seen a tread pattern like that before. Neat stuff. I imagine those came with the kit? Also, what’s the layout of the rear of the cab? Cool truck, for sure.

Sorry to hear of your workbench woes, but it looks like you pushed through it and the build will look good in the end. Front floats look good.

Best $20 you'll ever spend

That sounds like a good idea -
I think you can take it a lot further by adding some weathering. Good job so far, but it sounds as though you’d like to take it in a different direction, especially if you’re not in love with the paint scheme. Good choice in replacing the stack. Several items in AMT kits leave a lot to be desired, but they do provide a good basis for a project like this one.

Looks really good. I like the weathering you’ve done.

Help please, Lowered suspension 359 pete
vincen47 replied to I'mnickfury's question in Model Tuck Building Question and Answer
The best and far easiest way is to replace some of the kit’s suspension parts with the lowered parts available here from MTB. They also make other nice upgrades for the 359, and the prices are good. Otherwise, cut and notch the axles and/or airbags and arms to lower the frame. I’ve done it on the Italeri 378 a couple times along with the Freightliner FLC, but not on a 359, so I’m unable to provide any photos or a more exact tutorial, but there may be other people on here who have.- 2 replies

Nice work. Great era and model-specific corrections and upgrades, including the bench seat for the C-700 With these trucks, AMT unintentionally created a mashup of features specific to various truck models and different production years. I guess that’s part of the hobby - having to sort out, correct and customize the builds - and the AMT C-Series is one of the best canvases for creating unique scale model art because of all of the ways we can build them.

Wonderful all around, but the excellent weathering really sells it. Just the right amount, and so realistic. The drives are great too, and yeah they probably are actually retreads. It looks like Clint Freeman used the sidewalls from AMT, and added his own drive tread pattern. Art imitating life.

Welcome! I hope you enjoy it here.

A great start. It should be another good project. -
That’s a really nice hauler for your drag truck. Unique cab that you don’t see often, and a really classy paint scheme.

Great build! Excellent detail and fabrication. A wonderful tribute to all the guys that worked the 750 over the years. I like the paint colors, too.

Yep, right before the shift and on a place on the truck at a height they could reach without a ladder. Perfect.
