Thanks Vince! I agree that I didn’t want it to be gaudy. I figured that after the snow had stopped falling that the heat from the engine and cab would have most of the snow melted off in that area.

Straight stacks
DRIPTROIT 71 replied to Gary Austin's question in Model Tuck Building Question and Answer
I do the same thing as Vince except I make my elbows. I use solid Evergreen stryrene and heat it over a small t-light candle to make bends. Make sure that you get it hot enough before trying to bend or it will kink. I sometimes use it for the entire stack and drill out the end especially if it will have a turnout at the top. It was recommended on another forum to use stainless drinking straws like you can get at Micheal’s for stacks, but I haven’t personally tried that yet. -
This one is pretty much done. I used plaster from Woodland Scenes for the concrete. This was my first experience experimenting with snow.
-
Closer. Still need to figure out how I am going to replicate the concrete for the bed.

I would recommend Gary Wallace at GW trucks. Jamie also has them at molumunium.

Getting close to the finish line.

Thanks Vince! There was concrete in the bed for weight. I am trying to decide how I want to replicate the concrete. Creative license has been used on many things that I have no photos of. The look of the concrete falls into that category. I have tire chains for the drive tires and there will be chains on all the hangers. I always wondered why they didn’t use tandem drive trucks for this.

A little more progress.

International 4070 with lowboy and Cat dozer
DRIPTROIT 71 replied to Brian Dutz's topic in Model Truck Show Room
I really like this one Brian! You can’t go wrong with an International! The only thing that would have made it any better would have been an International dozer.😀 Excellent work on the weathering! With everything red, this one is a real head turner!! Top notch build all the way!! -
I’m guessing that CF liked them to cut down on battery cost, but I’m not sure. The main con is that once your air leaks down, you have to have an air hose to jump it off. I assume that is why they had the big tanks. There is a video on YouTube of an old CF truck that has the air tank for the starter where the passenger seat should be. It looks like a big water tank.

A little more progress on this one. Power comes from 903 Cummins, 5 speed Spicer transmission, large air tank for the air starter.

From what I understand, these pushers would push anyone.

1971 C-O 4070a Glosson Motor Lines
DRIPTROIT 71 replied to DRIPTROIT 71's topic in Model Truck Show Room
A lot of brands of trucks had separate motors and controls for the wipers and would stop where you turned them off, but evidently these didn’t. The engine swap did required a minor modification of the dog house and a custom front cross member. -

Thanks!! Charles Rowley made the Glosson decals. He is on here under the name “Chariots of Fire.” -

This one got an in-frame while in the body shop, so she’s pretty clean, shiny and new. -

Thanks Vince! I’m glad that you pointed out the wipers. Everything that I had experience with had separate wiper motors and controls. I went back and looked at my interior pictures and only one wiper knob. Needless to say, that has been fixed and now they match. -
This one is finished.

Thanks for the help with the decals!

Thanks Brian! Thanks Chuck!

I saw a former spreader truck on line that had the bed removed. I liked the way it looked, so I built this to represent such a truck. It began with a Paystar logger kit. The tires, front axle and transfer case are Kit Form Services. The engine is a 6-71 Detroit from Gary Wallace.

Thanks guys! I just about have this one rapped up.
-
I believe this is a 73 model. It is 6-71 powered.

I really like this one Brian! I’ll be starting on my CF pusher in a week or two. Nice work!!
