  1. First "in project post"here for me. I will be upfront and let you guys know I am not a "show quality builder". I am a retired diesel mechanic and build for my entertainment. The four foot rule applies quite a bit on my trucks. This project came about by following a simple engine conversion I found on making a 6V71 out of a 8V71. Once the engine was completed I needed a truck for it. This is a Spalding resin conversion and my first conversion with a full cab. The donor chassis was from an AMT Astro kit. The fuel tanks are the same with the center strap removed. I used aluminum tubing with a piece of mechanics wire for the cab tilt. The engine scratch built bumper using two prototypes combined into one. my method of mounting the cab so it can be removed over and over Intake and exhaust plumbing Scratch built muffler from a ink pen. Thanks for looking in

    KFS Ford CL9000

I picked up this conversion myself as I have a weakness for Ford semis. My only problem with the CL-9000 conversion is trying to find a FLD donor kit that is not for sale in the US. I am hoping Italeri will reissue them sometime , the FLC has made a comeback. I wished I had ordered the 'H-model Falcon" cab at the same time, it is long gone now.

    why trucks?

I started building trucks back in the early 1980's . Being a teenager my friends and I spent our free time at the local truckstop having burgers and fries listening to the jukebox and watching those 18 wheelers roll in to fuel up and fuel our dreams of the open road. So naturally we all built model trucks ,The Movin On and BJ and the Bear trucks and others were readily available . I did my first double bunk conversion at the age of 16 using two BJ trucks. As I got older I moved away from trucks due to the real estate they would take up on the shelf and went to WWII aircraft for the next 30 years. About five years ago I ended up with a AMT KW coe aero and Watkins trailer in a trade, I had been bitten by the bug again and have no desire to build any other type of model .
