    1972 R685 "short" cab

WOW!!! That truck makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. We had one we used on the farm a loooong time ago.I would pick my wife up and take her out to dinner.I then would go on hauling grain to market or fertilizer back to the field where we were planting corn.It brings back good memories and looks just like the real thing.Great job. 4. As a new member i don't want to break any rules so soon after joining the group.I would like to know what kind of "truck model's are allowed on the site.If it's called a truck and is a model of a truck, being built in good taste,of course, can we put it on this site? I'm building a scared rabbit truck!!! It runs down the track like a scared rabbit, and looks like a normal truck without tires. The narrow gauge railroads starting in the 1920s put railroad 'trucks' under a car or road truck and used them for all kinds of things. One of my projects, starting with the 1926 Mack AC model,is a rail truck. It will sit on my backwoods repair shed diorama for repairs to the engine.I'm thinking of a track repair truck, with all the track tools, grease, fluids, and parts on the back.I still have to get the proportions worked out.The problem is 1/24 wheels from G scale(1/2") cars are way to big.I think i need to go with "O" scale car wheels to make it look right. Please feel free to give any advice, thoughts,or opinions.I will end here so i don't erase all my typing.Rick

Building new Workshop 4 bare walls

b-lever,if there is one thing i have learned about the space we work in is to make it comfortable, and as much as possible before moving in.I built my fist garage 40 yrs and and have only one regret.I did not build and have the building ready to move in,so i tried to work and make improvements as i went.It made the job a lot harder with so much stuff in the way.No matter what you do,i wish you the best and look forward to seeing the end result.Rick

    Old trucks like me

Hello from Ohio.my name is Rick and I've been building train models for 50 years. My trains now go in the backyard and are call G scale. They are the reason for my interest in 1/24 and 1/25 trucks. My interest is old, rusted, worn out, well used trucks and construction equipment and miscellaneous that has had a long hard life. I'm not sure how I found this site, because at my age I am dangerous with the computer. I am taking lessons from a seven-year-old ( my grandson ) and I'm learning a lot. I am teaching him about models and he is teaching me how to turn on the computer and find what I'm looking for. I have seen some great inspiration and fantastic modeling on the site. I have a lot to learn because their are a few things that are different in building trains and building vehicles. I hope to learn a lot as I go on, and pass on what I can so others may learn. I've just discovered YouTube and I can say I blame the site for the lack of sleep last two nights, but I've enjoyed watching all of the truck builds and videos. The first thing I would like to do is learn how to put pictures on the site. I've been working on 5 trucks,2 dozers, and 1 Scratchbuilt, getting the parts painted so I can start on putting things together. Because of my health issues I've run into, I will have plenty of time to build models over the next eight months, because I am on a list for a double lung transplant. Since you don't rest or sleep while in the hospital ( for six weeks ), I thought this would be a good time to learn the computer, and build models. I hope should be able to keep an eye on this group, keep me entertained while in the hospital. I guess that's it for now, Rick

    why trucks?

This will be my first post as i just signed up.I started with model trains back in the earl 60s.i moved on to "HO" and did;nt build much, just operated with only the track and trains.Back in the Early 80s i saw a LGB train set and bought it. I build the trucks in 1/25th because they go with my big trains. As i've gotten older my models have grown bigger.I like the old small overworked and rusted type of trucks. My next project will be one that rides the rails as well as drives on the road.I'm waiting to get a double lung transplant and will have plenty of time to sit and build my projects. I hope to learn a lot from this forum and maybe offer some advice to at times.
