Very nice, Never see Farm rigs like that in Maine. Nice work on the 6V53 and Dash. Paul

Been working on this on and off for a few years. Dragged it out popped the Detroit 8V71T out and re painted the chassis Rootbeer. Fuel tanks are modified Mack units and the wheels and tires are from the AMT Ah64B Autocar. Assembled the interior that was painted a few years ago with a AMT Corvair Rally panel for the co driver, added the guard over the roof AC I made from brass with only a dozen or so tries. Playing now with the none dumping dump body that carried spare parts, oil, tires and 200 gallons of drinking water, 300 gallons of extra fuel. Paul

IH 4300 Transtar color choices
41CHEVY replied to Jersee Jerry55's question in Model Tuck Building Question and Answer
I use a lot of Ace Hardware, WalMart and Krylon, it is good paint IMO. Paul -
This is a model of my first heavy dump truck I bought in 1977. Worked it to death when the frame broke. Cat power from the Revell KW, Autocar dump body and the load is scale horse dung or in reality my wife's potting soil. .

Since the minor snag on my Terrapro and finishing two Chevies (in the Show Room) I figured I'd start this as I've been tossing parts for it in the box for a few years. Power is a naturally aspired Cummins with a 10 speed. It intrudes into the cab a bit. Rear suspension is from some AMT unknown truck kit. Wheels and tires will be a mix from the Autocar dump truck with fronts a back dated set of Alcos. There will be a Mercury sleeper added but through cab access is undecided as of now. Cummins is just set in location with the mounts made up. The new dog house is fabbed up with just a bit of filling on one seam needed and the dash has an 1/8" cut off between the steering column and the end of gauge panel. Chassis was shortened 2 full inches and I made the steer axle turn-able. Paul Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki

Started with the cab which was a MB resin cab from Models by Dave. Made a Terrapro grill and surround, headlight bezels and signal units, slam lock handles from the Revell Century Wrecker. Color is some medium metallic blue that was left over from an R model and DM600 Flintstone builds. Last of my OEM Mack color. Chassis is next,I'll start with Evergreen 5/16 I beam and mill it down to the proper C channel, cross members will be made from assorted Plastruct I beams and Z shapes. Clearance lights are some stick on chrome items for decorating guitars. Paul Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki

You also may look at Modeltruckin.com Jerry has some very nice generic decals also (if you do purchase from him mention Paul from Gold Coast referred you). Post some photos if you will, the International sounds like a very interesting project! Paul -
That is just cool. Your body work is excellent!

IH 4300 Transtar color choices
41CHEVY replied to Jersee Jerry55's question in Model Tuck Building Question and Answer
On the Tri Color Transtar's the chassis was generally painted the same color as the lower stripe, but on all the standard trucks Semi Gloss Black was the basic color but the buyer could option at a few dollars more any color the wanted. You pretty much have a wide range of choices. Paul -
A little up date as this week is local runs. Made up the folding ladder for access to the storage in dummy box and also got the air intake plumbing made up from bits I've been saving. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki

I'm very impressed of the detail in that scale. Nice work. Paul

A Diamond T just looks so well with a sleeper. Like the moons on the rear also.
-
Not a support unit. It ran the full rally and beat many, many other vehicles entered.
-
ot a bit more done. Cab and sleeper are mounted and the hood is assembled with a homemade set of hinges. Works fairly well. I think I'm going to slide the hood off and put in a set of basic inner fender wells just to close the big hole up. Should be easy as they appear to be just a flat piece. Yes saw the photos. If I wasn't in my mid 60's I'd think of selling my Marmon for a new DC64.

Shortened the chassis and converted it to a 6 wheeler, power plant is a 6V71T Green Leaker converted from an 8V/71T with an Allison. Used a piece black PVC thinned down on my lathe for the extended radiator shroud. Trailer is the Italeri Container trailer weathered up . Paul Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki

That's going to be a sweet look T. It looks longer than mine, been so long I had to take a good look to see if I shortened the wheel base. Apparently not. I didn't know the kits had different chassis in different reissues. I'm going to start a thread so it can be seen also. The real trucks are being made as glider kit by a company called T Line supposedly by next year. Now if only the Marmon Company would return so I could retire my OTR and get a new one that would allow me into Cali. Paul.

Looks nice, glad to see you are back on it. I'm working on one right now that root beer color also. Been on and off it for quite a few years.

Welcome Lee, glad to have you here. Paul

Thanks. It was a bit of work to fit it to the Ford cab, wasn't really sure if it would be worth it.
